Third Delaware Regiment Volunteer Infantry

The Third Delaware Regiment Volunteer Infantry began organizing in Camden in late 1861, but did not take the field until May 1862. Their first duty was the interception of Stonewall Jackson near Harpers Ferry. The Third was attached to the Army of the Potomac and participated in all its engagements until the surrender of General Lee at Appomattox Court House. The Second mustered out on June 3, 1865.
